Chief Information Officer Responsibilities
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is often compared to the president of the United States of America; because every president has one job that they are absolutely responsible for, and that is to guide and oversee the operations of the government. CIO's serve as the gatekeeper to the government. All cabinet members, secretaries, and all other executive officials must go through the CIO before getting their access to information, which includes access to White House data and documents. Additionally, all government agencies and departments must go through the CIO before getting access to the latest information, including the top-secret information. The CIO oversees all departmental information and is often considered the "chief information officer" for their agency or department.
